The further you are zoomed in it will blur the backround. I forget what it is called.
no, you set it on aperature priority ( you lower the depth of field this way )
only if youll be making pictures larger than 8x10, 6mp is a lot and with a dx sensor. There is a huge difference between 6mp on a point and shoot and the d40, if you need to spend that money, use it to get a lens besides the kit

Is there any special way to make the background black and white and make the main focus have color? Or is that something done on Photoshop?
